AAA Northway’s New Safety System Implemented In All Service Trucks

Roads can be dangerous even with flashing lights, sirens, and other warning equipment, drivers frequently fail to slow down or move over for emergency responders and other road workers.  AAA Northway has added new safety systems in all our fleet vehicles to warn drivers earlier.  When our fleet vehicles are on-scene, Safety Cloud alerts drivers through in-dash systems and navigation apps.  The alerts remind drivers to slow down and move over and are received up to 30 seconds before approaching a roadside incident.

Slow Down, Move Over

Drivers traveling in the same direction must exercise due care, include moving from a lane immediately adjacent, and reducing speed, to avoid colliding with a vehicle parked, stopped, or standing on the shoulder or any portion of the highway when the vehicle is an authorized emergency response, tow truck, or maintenance vehicle with its lights flashing.

New York Approved Online Course

New York Approved Online Course

Take a Defensive Driving Course from the comfort of your own home and at your own pace. This online Defensive Driving course is approved by the New York Department of Motor Vehicles.

Upon completion:

  • You may be eligible to reduce as many as four (4) points on your driving record. The DMV computer will automatically note your eligibility to receive the reduction.
  • If you are the principal operator of a motor vehicle, you will receive a minimum 10% reduction in the base rate of your automobile and motorcycle liability and collision insurance premiums each year for three years.

 

Online Course Details

Our 6 hour Point & Insurance Reduction course is approved by NYS DMV.

The course covers necessary information regarding traffic safety issues (such as driver attitude and behavior) safe driving techniques, and the rules and laws of the road.

At the end of each unit the student will need to pass (80% or better) a multiple choice quiz to advance to the next unit. The unit quiz can be taken as many times as necessary to receive a passing grade.

You have 30 days to complete the course, and can start and stop as often as you like.
